DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvides general coordination of real estate activities involving the acquisition of City property interests, of land and/or property rights for public and private projects.
- Provides general coordination of real estate activities involving the acquisition of land and/or property rights for public projects.
Participates in site visits, and develops and reviews offer packages, purchase agreements, and counteroffers; negotiates with landowners for parcel acquisitions; prepares condemnation packages when needed.
Prepares routine and non-routine reports, maintains and updates database tracking system and files for assigned parcels and projects.
- Coordinates with project engineer and other departments as necessary to necessary to determine and understand project needs.
- Drafts and processes correspondence and Requests for Council Action (RCA) for real estate transactions and other documents to acquire property.
- Evaluates, reviews, and monitors real estate files on all active projects, including field notes, appraisals, legal documents, and other pertinent information.
- Must understand basic and complex real estate principles and terminology.
- Operates vehicle to and from various real estate sites.
WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is physically comfortable. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of professional experience in real estate activities, design or a closely related field are required.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
