About the Position: Serve as a Public Safety Telecommunicator for dispatching Fire, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and Law Enforcement (LE) responders, monitoring alarms and activating Mass Notification Systems in Army Garrison Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) / 911 Centers.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes answering emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching fire, police and emergency medical personnel and vehicles in accordance with procedures established; operate computer aided dispatching system and automation equipment to log calls, and provide callers with emergency medical assistance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Provide emergency services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.
  • Provide initial Incident Command support until responding emergency units arrive on scene.
  • Monitor computerized fire alarm systems and other alarm systems such as Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) alarm systems.
  • Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response.
  • Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, telephones, radios, and station alerting systems.
  • Provide emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies.
