Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes dispatching fire, police and emergency medical services to the scene of the incident; and maintaining an event log and drafting a daily situational report; and determining priority of response required; and assign work to subordinates based on difficulty.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

Major Duties:

  • Transmit requests for mutual aid through applicable Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) or emergency response jurisdictions.
  • Relay mutual aid requests to/from the senior emergency response official.
  • Approve requests for leave based on mission requirements.
  • Make recommendations concerning the maintenance or replacement of equipment to ensure state-of-the-art equipment is requested.
  • Resolve CAD hardware, software, ICIDs, CBRNE detection monitors/receivers, and program problems.
  • Maintain telephone and radio communication equipment and proficiency in dispatching appropriate emergency forces.
