Apply for this Public Health Nutrition Consultant role with the Department of Education’s Food & Nutrition/Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Nutrition Education team.

In this position, you will provide input and support for the direction of nutrition education and training programs in child nutrition issues for public and private schools, childcare providers, summer food service sponsors, non-profit organizations, and other internal and external customers.
This includes providing support to expand participation in the Child Nutrition Programs and training new and returning.
Key responsibilities of this role involve collaborating and coordinating with colleagues to support the development, implementation, and administration of federal requirements such as Local Wellness Policy, Meal Patterns, Nutrition Standards, Smart Snacks, Professional Standards, and meal modifications for disabilities.
You will develop and implement a training plan for Child Nutrition Programs and deliver nutrition education and training in Commonwealth schools, as well as provide direction and support for electronic school food service software systems.
Work also involves reviewing and interpreting nutritional and health education research to ensure programs are outcomes-based and responsive to the needs of the people we serve.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to four days per week.
Staff is currently required to report to the office in Harrisburg on Thursday each week, and as needed.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
