Full Job Description

The Program Support Assistant (MHV) will assist in providing critical, timely and effective communication in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs On-line Personal Health Record, My Hea1theVet (MHV), Social Networking Media and Secure Messaging (SM) components.

You will serve as the facility champion supporting existing and future veteran communication initiative.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/23/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing high-level administrative support within a healthcare environment, specifically for programs like VA's Online Personal Health Record, My HealtheVet (MHV), and Secure Messaging (SM).

Have knowledge and understanding of the full range of principles, concepts, and techniques of marketing, advertising and salesmanship and the ability to transform these requirements into a working, viable program; knowledge and understanding of facility clinical, business, and operational processes and workflows; skill to work with clinicians and CACs to integrate theory into clinical and business practice patterns and policies; skills to facilitate, negotiate, and mitigate SM and MHV-related challenges; skill in organizing and communicating ideas and thoughts effectively through written correspondence and oral presentation; Journalistic skills necessary to develop materials to convey information in a professional format generally acceptable to the public; knowledge of VA and VHA organization, structure and the chain of command; You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Accountability Administration and Management Interpersonal Skills Teamwork Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary, but may require periods of standing during presentations, briefings, speeches, health fair activities, etc., although some slight physical effort may be required.

Major Duties:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist in developing, refining, maintaining and documenting MHV internal control policies and procedures.

Collect, develop and document data for facility operational decisions.

Initiating telephonic contact with Veterans for program enrollment Assist with the development and implementation of multi-media marketing campaign materials.

Coordinates and obtains clearances for release of information.

Provide training to volunteers and patients to promote awareness of and participation in My HealtheVet, VA Blue Button, and Secure Messaging.

Functions as a liaison to identify and communicate local related training needs. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting or results from program studies.

Implementation of nationally standardized protocols for incoming data, organizes and maintains data, and retrieves a variety of computerized data.

Operate web-based software for programs and other databases for VISN office.

Operates equipment to assist in troubleshooting problems for patients and staff, answering questions and supporting the telehealth team.

Gives oral presentations with handouts and visual materials to encourage utilization of the service and anticipated benefits.

Establish and maintain inventory of all assigned computers and My Healthcare Vet equipment including purchased and leased equipment.

Serves as a consultant for all aspects of facility My HealtheVet use. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
