Oversees Events and Special Projects, Public Outreach activities, Public Involvement activities, Graphic Design, and Agency-wide branding. Serves as an advisor to agency leadership and other departments within the Public Engagement division on brand, outreach, involvement and event standards. Supervises the staff that lead each of those programs for the agency and serves as a leader in the department, guiding the vision, strategy and direction for these functions.

Provides leadership and direction for Agency events with oversight of the Events and Special Projects staff. Oversees the coordination of events such as Employee Appreciation Day, Employee Memorial Day, and SCDOT Conferences.

Sets goals and standards for events, public outreach, public involvement, graphic design, branding, and marketing campaigns. Coordinates the workflow and personnel involved in these operations, fostering collaboration.

In collaboration with the Director of Public Engagement, the Director of Strategic Communications and agency leaders, ensures the agency has a strategic marketing and communications plan, and assists with the implementation of that plan. Ensures that public relations campaigns are cohesive and that appropriate messages and incorporated into agency events, public involvement and public outreach efforts.

Fosters and maintains relationships with other organizations and state agencies. Proposes events, public outreach campaigns, and other engagement opportunities to the Director of Public Engagement, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff.

Manages the office's emergency management efforts during inclement weather events to ensure that all Headquarters' essential personnel are provided meals and coordinates overnight stays if necessary during extended emergency shifts.

Serves as a liaison and advisor to other agency departments on related activities including event planning, travel, branding, public involvement, public outreach and other community and public engagement strategies. Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and five (5) years of relevant program management experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.

May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.

Employee may be exposed to loud noises, dust, fumes, and other conditions associated with a laboratory environment. Some travel may be required.
