Full Job Description

As Strategic Communications Manager & Media Production Lead, this employee will serve as the liaison between the Director's Office and agency communication leadership to promote SCDNR's mission and vision.

Job Duties Include:
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating communication strategies and campaigns that reflect SCDNR's mission.
    • This includes defining goals, objectives, leadership priorities, budgets and evaluation criteria.
  • Evaluating strategies on campaigns on a regular basis and updating them based on results.
  • Identifying emerging communication opportunities, trends, and best practices to advance the agency's visibility and credibility.
  • Collaborating with Education, Outreach and Public Information leadership and agency directors to ensure clear, consistent, and engaging messaging across all outreach platforms.
  • Serving as the agency's lead videographer and photographer for the Director's Office and priority projects.
  • Coordinating the production of video and photographic content while maintaining agency branding and accessibility standards.
  • Maintaining relationships with executive leadership, subject-matter experts, and creative teams to identify potential partnerships and sources of funding interested in supporting the agency's mission, vision, additional conservation initiatives and natural resources stewardship practices.
  • Managing media assets and maintaining organized archives for internal and public use.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in the development and dissemination of informational material.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, film/media production, or a closely related field and four (4) years of professional experience in video production, photography, or multimedia communications. Master's degree preferred. Prior experience working with government, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred. Demonstrative experience developing and managing communication campaigns or public engagement initiatives. Advanced proficiency in video production, editing, and photography (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent tools). Strong understanding of visual storytelling, lighting, sound, and post-production workflows. Familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, and digital asset management. Ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling messages. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to balance creative work and strategic oversight.

Additional Information

Statewide travel and occasional overnight travel may be required. Work hours may include nights and weekends.
