Job Description

The Program Leader will be serving as a key liaison for community members and citizen inquires addressing questions and concerns related to recreational programs, special events and facility rentals.

This role involves developing curriculum, coordinating with contract instructors, maintaining structured schedules for rentals, programs and daily operations in collaboration with the staff and vendors, while aligning activities with departmental goals and community needs.


Essential Duties
  • Coordinating and supervising daily operations including staff scheduling and training, marketing, and public engagement
  • Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, activities, and special events for diverse age groups and socioeconomic communities
  • Managing rental bookings for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor facilities
  • Maintaining accurate records including registrations, attendances, deposits, cash handlings, financial documentations, and facility usage reports
  • Ensuring that all operations comply with department policies and safety protocols
  • Assisting with programs, event development and record keeping
  • Supporting and leading community outreach efforts to promote programs, increase participation and ensure inclusive and responsive service delivery


Public Speaking


  • Addressing groups and individuals in a public setting to express the department missions and goals
  • Acting as the Master of Ceremonies for events, and programs


Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, scheduling software, and record-keeping tools is an asset
  • Motivated to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Grade

  • The Grade for this position is B221. The salary will be based on education and experience


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Parks and Recreation, Health and Human Services, Senior Services, or a related field AND
  • One year of related experience
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPR Certification (within 6 months of employment)
  • First Aid Certification (within 6 months of employment)


Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications


  • Associate degree in Recreation, Public Service, Education, Events Management or Hospitality AND
  • Two years of recreational program experience
