Job Description
Gwinnett County’s Department of Water Resources is currently recruiting to hire interns to assist our Information & Outreach Division. $20.36 per hour, 15-20 hours per week with at least one year commitment, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year.

Essential Duties
  • Assist with development of communications materials for water conservation and protection
  • Write educational articles for newsletters and other publications, as well as social media posts. Assist with writing and design/layout for brochures and flyers using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Assist Department of Water Resources staff with workshops and events, including compiling registrations, preparing materials, coordinating attendee sign-in, and display set-up/break-down
  • Review and coordinate updates to the Department of Water Resources website
  • Other duties as assigned
Hourly rate
Hourly rate is $20.36/hour.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Major in communications, journalism, or public relations
  • Available at least two weekdays per week between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet requirements to operate a Gwinnett County vehicle

  • Strong work or educational background and/or understanding of communications and public relations
  • Can quickly learn and confidently deliver new material
  • Well organized and dependable
  • Will represent Gwinnett County DWR with professionalism and courtesy
  • Comfortable with public speaking
Physical Requirements
Moderate physical activity including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and the ability to lift 30 pounds.
