Are you in search of a thrilling seasonal role with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, where you can immerse yourself in nature while engaging with a diverse community? The Park Resource Ranger position could be your ideal opportunity. In this capacity, you will interact with park visitors, offering insights into park amenities, recreational options, historical context, ecological features, and the surrounding landscape. Requirements

In this role at Codorus State Park, you will undertake a variety of tasks focused on public engagement and safety within State Park operations and outdoor recreation.

Your responsibilities will include interacting with park visitors to address inquiries about facilities, recreational activities, park history, and environmental features of the area.

You will utilize the parks reservation and revenue system to check in campers and process pool patrons at the ticket booth. You will provide basic first aid to injured visitors as needed.

Additionally, you will ensure that visitors understand park rules, regulations, and procedures, notifying the Park Manager or DCNR Ranger of any incidents that require elevated law enforcement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work schedule will vary based on operational needs at 37.5 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch. This position is required to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts deemed necessary to meet seasonal needs.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires all employees to obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
