The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is in search of a dedicated Park Maintenance Worker. In this essential role, you will be instrumental in maintaining roads, trails, and facilities, all while experiencing the rewarding satisfaction of serving the community. Requirements

This role encompasses various maintenance tasks at Reeds Gap State Park Complex, including light carpentry, plumbing, and the general upkeep of park grounds and facilities.

Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms in picnic areas, campgrounds, family cabins, and boating zones, utilizing tools such as brooms, mops, and disinfectants to meet the standards set by the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The position also involves assisting skilled tradespeople in their tasks, which may include pumping and cleaning pit latrines as needed.


Additionally, the role requires the installation of amenities like fire rings, lantern hangers, picnic grills, and park benches, necessitating hand digging and concrete mixing for proper setup.

Painting and staining park signs and various structures is also part of the job, which involves preparing surfaces by scraping off old finishes and applying new paint.

Furthermore, the position supports skilled tradesmen by cutting lumber, mixing concrete, and sanding materials to facilitate renovations and repairs, including maintenance of pool equipment and park water and sewage systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
