The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is currently on the lookout for a dedicated Park Maintenance Worker to join their team at the Moraine State Park Complex. This position involves engaging in semi-skilled manual labor focused on both the construction and upkeep of park facilities and landscapes. Requirements
In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks independently or provide assistance to a skilled worker in the routine maintenance and construction activities at Moraine State Park Complex. Your responsibilities will include performing ground maintenance, which involves mowing grass and weeds using various equipment such as riding mowers, hand mowers, or weed eaters, as well as cutting firewood and collecting litter. You will also be tasked with loading and transporting materials using dump trucks or pick-up trucks, cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging holes and ditches, and maintaining drains and culverts. Additional duties encompass site preparation, seeding and establishing new turf areas, and planting and caring for trees and shrubs.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for painting and staining park buildings, signs, and gates, as well as making repairs to facilities using tools from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other trades. You will operate and maintain vehicles and equipment used throughout the park, construct simple forms for cement work, mix and place cement, and assist in laying stone and block walls. Your role will also include general housekeeping and building maintenance, which involves cleaning and supplying restrooms, offices, and other buildings, as well as performing minor repairs like replacing light bulbs or tightening fixtures. It is essential to ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment, power tools, and hand tools while assisting park visitors and providing information in a friendly and helpful manner. You will be required to complete necessary documentation, including daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records, and leave slips, and operate a two-way radio following proper procedures. Additionally, you will carry out general custodial cleaning tasks, such as maintaining restrooms, floors, and windows, emptying garbage cans, picking up litter, cleaning buildings, stocking paper supplies, and performing routine maintenance and repairs to park structures, along with any related work as needed.Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.
The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.
The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction;
or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
