In this role, you will engage in essential activities that contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of the Memorial Lake State Park Complex, which encompasses Memorial Lake and Swatara State Parks, the J.E. Ibberson Conservation Area, and the Boyd Big Tree Preserve. Requirements

In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks either independently, as part of a team, or by supporting a skilled worker with routine maintenance and construction activities at Memorial Lake State Park Complex. Your responsibilities will include repairing buildings and facilities using tools from various trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Additionally, you will operate and assist in the upkeep, care, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment across the complex. You will also construct simple forms for cement work, mix and place cement, and finish surfaces using masonry tools, as well as lay stone and block walls.

Ground maintenance tasks will involve mowing, cutting weeds, and managing firewood, along with litter collection and material handling using dump trucks or pickup trucks. Other duties will encompass site preparation, seeding new turf areas, and planting and maintaining trees and shrubs. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the general housekeeping and maintenance of park facilities, which includes cleaning and stocking restrooms, shower houses, offices, and pavilions, as well as performing minor repairs like changing light bulbs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
