Job Description

Summary

This seasonal job involves hands-on outdoor work to maintain and improve Pennsylvania state parks, including tasks like mowing grass, cleaning facilities, operating small machinery, and helping visitors.

  • Complete maintenance tasks including mowing, weed cutting, drain cleaning, painting, staining, and minor repairs like replacing light bulbs

Requirements

As a Park Maintenance Worker, your role will involve performing semi-skilled construction and maintenance work using equipment such as mini-excavators, small tractors, and commercial lawn mowers. You will also be responsible for general housekeeping and building upkeep, which includes cleaning and restocking restrooms, pit latrines, offices, and other facilities. Additional duties include the following:
  • Mowing and cutting weeds and grass
  • Cleaning drains and culverts
  • Painting and staining park buildings, signs, and gates
  • Replacing light bulbs and tightening fixtures
  • Completing daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records, and leave slips
  • Assisting park visitors and disseminating information in a friendly, helpful manner

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, 37.5 hours/week, full-time position with no health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2027.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
