The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively looking to hire a Permanent Maintenance Repairman 2, a role that involves performing skilled journey-level work across various trades. Requirements

This role involves performing skilled journey-level tasks across various trades, including building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, and masonry, specifically in the construction, maintenance, and repair of park buildings, facilities, and equipment.

Under the guidance of a supervisor, the individual is responsible for reaching out to vendors to gather price quotes, calculating the costs of necessary supplies and equipment, estimating the man-hours needed for project completion, and preparing the required documentation for supervisor review and approval.

Additionally, this position serves as a lead worker, overseeing semi-skilled laborers, laborers, and other team members throughout project execution.In the carpentry domain, the worker employs both hand and power tools to carry out general carpentry tasks, including maintenance, renovation, and construction of park facilities.

This includes interpreting blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to effectively repair or install various elements such as floor coverings, doors, locks, screens, roofs, soffits, fascia, spouting, windows, and decks.

The role also encompasses planning, designing, and constructing wooden projects like storage cabinets and shelving units.

In plumbing, the individual is tasked with repairing, renovating, and constructing plumbing systems across all facilities.

Responsibilities include clearing blocked drains, fixing leaking faucets, fountains, showers, urinals, and toilets, as well as replacing hot water tanks and installing or repairing sewage and water lines.

The role also involves pulling, repairing, and reinstalling submersible water well pumps and lift station pumps, along with draining pipes in preparation for winter.The masonry aspect of the position includes both new construction and maintenance work related to buildings, bridges, foundations, walkways, and walls.

This involves constructing forms for cement work, mixing cement and plaster, finishing cement with masonry tools, and pouring footers, floors, walls, and sign bases.

The worker also lays concrete blocks and stones for various structures, including walls and fireplaces.In the mechanical area, the individual conducts preventative maintenance and performs checklist inspections on vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure their safe operation.

Lastly, in the electrical domain, the worker is responsible for installing or repairing electrical systems, which may include new construction fuses, circuit panels, pool power panels, cords, plugs, electrical boxes, and other accessories, ensuring that all electrical work meets safety standards and operational requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hour work week, 5 days per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work will be required on weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
