Requirements

In this role, you will perform various maintenance tasks at Promised Land State Park, including light carpentry, plumbing, and the general upkeep of park grounds and facilities. Your work will involve semi-skilled manual labor related to construction and maintenance within the State Park. Responsibilities include repairing buildings and facilities with tools from different trades, such as carpentry and plumbing, as well as maintaining and cleaning vehicles and equipment used in the park.

You will also be involved in basic cement work, including constructing forms, mixing and applying cement, and laying stone and block walls. Ground maintenance will require mowing, weeding, litter collection, and preparing sites for new turf, along with planting and caring for trees and shrubs. Additionally, you will paint park structures and ensure cleanliness in restrooms, offices, and other facilities, which includes minor repairs like changing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, 37.5 hours/week, full-time position with no healthcare benefits.

The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2027.

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Work schedule will vary to include weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


    Condition of Employment:

    • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license that is not under suspension.
