Requirements

In this position, you will play a key role in repairing and maintaining buildings, equipment, and facilities within state parks. Utilizing tools from various trades, including mechanical, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, you will ensure that park structures and equipment remain functional. You will collaborate with skilled workers such as mechanics, sewage plant operators, and carpenters on both everyday tasks and larger projects. Additionally, you will assist equipment operators in maintaining park roads and grounds. Occasionally, you will take on a leadership role, directing laborers and custodians to ensure that all work is performed safely and adheres to park regulations.

Your responsibilities will also include cleaning restrooms, cabins, and washhouses, managing litter disposal, and using cleaning supplies to maintain hygiene. You may prepare surfaces for painting and apply finishes using various tools. Furthermore, you will keep track of equipment usage, including mileage and fuel levels. Overall, this job encompasses a variety of tasks that contribute to keeping the park safe, clean, and well-maintained for visitors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
