The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Delaware Canal Park Complex is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Park Maintenance Worker.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a beautiful outdoor environment while contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of the park facilities and grounds.


Requirements

This role involves performing routine manual tasks to help maintain a clean and safe environment for visitors while also supporting park staff with construction and maintenance duties. Responsibilities include collecting and disposing of trash throughout the park, assisting with janitorial needs in various facilities, and contributing to general landscaping efforts. Additionally, the position entails restocking frequently used materials and supplies and providing support to staff in addressing visitor and customer service inquiries.

To present a professional image to the public, it is essential to adhere to the Bureau’s mission, use appropriate language and conduct, maintain a neat uniform appearance, and ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness. A basic understanding of the park and its operations, along with a friendly attitude, is crucial for effectively assisting park visitors when needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
