Full Job Description

You will serve as a NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Currently qualified as a Shift Test Engineer.

The incumbent is required to be qualified as a Shift Test Engineer in accordance with NAVSEA 0989-028-5000, Manual for the Control of Testing and Plant Conditions.

To continue in the position, satisfactory performance is required on periodic written examinations administered by the Shipyard to ascertain adequate retention of knowledge and understanding of new or revised procedures and technology.

  • Your will inspect completed installation of test equipment to assure the equipment will safely perform the intended function.
  • You will provide engineering advice and assistance to ships force personnel during reactor plant overhauls and testing.
  • You will perform functions of a Shift Test Supervisor to provide waterfront direction for the Shift Test Engineer on the shift assigned.
  • You will perform system lineup checks in conjunction with the ships force and report all major problems to higher graded engineer.
  • You will prepare technical written instructions for assembly and installation of equipment.
