Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing natural resources and environmental projects for the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers, including planning civil works from start to finish, ensuring compliance with laws, and coordinating with teams and contractors.

A good fit would be someone with a background in biology or environmental science who enjoys hands-on project management and helping communities with resource needs.

It requires strong communication skills to work with diverse groups and solve problems effectively.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B.

Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Knowledge of recreation/natural resource management and related laws and regulations; 2) Managing projects with project management principles; and 3) Assess impacts to the natural and man-made environment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Apply principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, and managing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) civil works projects and resources.
  • Lead/work within Project Delivery Teams in all aspects of a project; from concept to construction.
  • Have knowledge of concepts, principles, and theories of the interrelationships among organisms and their environment.
  • Work with the contracting office to explore various contract methods or techniques to procure contracts that support USACE civil works projects.
  • Aid customers by assessing needs, resolving problems, and providing information.
  • Express information to individuals/groups effectively, makes clear oral presentations, listens to others, and responds appropriately.
