Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling paperwork and processes for Army Reserve soldiers, such as preparing orders, managing promotions and transfers, and giving advice on pay and personnel rules.

It's a civilian role that requires you to also be an active member of the Army Reserve.

About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division (RD), Reserve Personnel Action Center (RPAC), Dix Satellite NJ057 located at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing military personnel actions; researching or analyzing pay issues; reviewing incoming regulations; ensuring compliance with rules and regulations; advising on pay and personnel processes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resources.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Prepare military correspondence and orders and maintain files.
  • Prepare military personnel actions including evaluation reports, applications for appointment, promotions, individual orders, retirement point cards, or transfers.
  • Provide technical advice on establishment and maintenance of pay accounts ensuring compliance with laws and regulations as well as researching complex pay issues.
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures ensuring uniform interpretation and application.
  • Provide guidance on administrative and personnel matters such as recruitment, retention, assignment and transfer, Military Occupation Specialty, personnel strength, discharge, retirement, promotion, discipline, or utilization.
  • Research and analyze data identifying trends and report results to management.
