Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling administrative tasks for the U.S. Army Reserve, such as managing personnel records, processing pay, and advising on military policies at a center in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division (RD), Reserve Personnel Action Center (RPAC), Dix Satellite NJ039, located at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintenance of personnel and pay records; process military pay and personnel actions; personnel management; correspondence and maintenance of files, and/or mail distribution; acquired knowledge sufficient to provide advice and assistance to management and personnel regarding various administrative support function.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resources.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Prepare or ensure the preparation of military personnel actions.
  • Advise supported units and personnel on military personnel and pay questions.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance regarding pay accounts and complex pay actions.
  • Research complex pay complaints.
