Specialized experience is defined as: Possess experience utilizing a large body of military payroll rules, procedures and operations sufficient to process pay audits, corrections, and adjustments.

Reviewing and processing final actions to resolve complicated payroll issues and determining complex payroll entitlements.

Possess in-depth knowledge of military payroll systems sufficient to intervene and bypass normal automated systems and procedures.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Reviews, examines, resolves problems of substantial difficulty relating to discrepant MMPA''s, identify errors, and take corrective actions to ensure proper payment.
  • Receives individual problem cases which other military pay areas cannot process utilizing normal methods due to lack of access and the unique nature of the transactions
  • Works with systems analysts, programmers, and control analysts in examining and interpreting problems encountered in the system.
  • Is responsible for research and discussions leading to documentation facts, assumptions, alternatives, conclusions and recommendations to systems accountants and policy personnel concerning the system's behavior.
  • Processes confined, desertion, absent without leave (AWOL), military and civilian confinement, parole, and appellate leave cases. 25%
