Microsoft 365/Intune Engineer

The Department of Administration's (Admin) Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is the state’s central provider of IT services to state government agencies.

We are growing and now is a great time to join State Government! We are seeking a talented Microsoft 365/ Intune Engineer to join our team.

This role is an integral part of our Workplace Services team, working alongside professionals dedicated to this technology stack.

In this role you will primarily support our Office 365 environment as well as work to ensure our cloud identities are secured and following best practices.

You will establish documentation and procedures that will be used by both tier 1 and tier 2 support staff to support the various Office 365 modules.

This position is on site in Columbia, SC


Responsibilities of the Microsoft 365/Intune Engineer:

Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) and conditional access policies directed by the architecture team. Manage enterprise apps, identity protection, and role-based access.

Configure and monitor Purview compliance tools, DLP, and retention. Respond to security incidents and coordinate remediation with security teams.

Work with architect, management, and various departments to manage Microsoft 365 tenant, including identity, security, compliance, and service configurations.

Assist with the development of governance policies for Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, and Entra ID. Ensure alignment with Division of Information Security and Admin requirements.

  • Exchange Online & Collaboration Platform Administration. Lead advanced administration of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, inTune and Teams.
  • Work closely with team leads and architects to develop delivery and support plans, assist with migrations, and complex troubleshooting. Develop a lifecycle management policy for groups, sites, and collaboration policies.
  • Assist with the management of our third party email filtering tools. Run message traces, block and release mail in ProofPoint, and assist with mail flow issues and investigations.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 related projects such as migrations, security rollouts, and feature deployments. Work with communications, agency relationship managers, and change management teams to coordinate system changes.
  • Requirements

    • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Experience working with and managing Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
    • A strong understanding of the different licensing options and how to validate this licensing.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills.
    • Working knowledge of SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Exchange.
    • A strong understanding of the Power Platform.
    • Must be able to create and debug automation scripts in various languages including basic batch scripts, PowerShell, python, Power BI, and Power Query.
