Base salary range: $104,604 - $135,987

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading teams to manage engineering projects for naval ship systems, like controlling machinery on destroyers and other vessels, while ensuring everything stays on budget, on time, and meets high safety standards.
A good fit would be an experienced engineer or scientist who enjoys overseeing technical work, supervising staff, and solving complex problems in a team setting.
It's ideal for someone with a background in defense or large-scale projects who can handle both administrative tasks and hands-on technical challenges.
You will serve as a Manager in the Machinery Control System Code 552 (DDG 51 Modernization) or Code 511 (LPD/USV) Branches of NSWC PHILA DIV.
This announcement may be used to fill additional Manager vacancies if necessary. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 pay band (GS-12/13 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist developing and managing engineering project budgets; allocating and optimizing personnel, materials, and equipment to support engineering and maintenance activities; overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects; ensuring machinery control systems meet stringent performance and safety standards; collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to foster cooperative relationships and achieve project objectives; identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues related to machinery control systems to maintain operational readiness and efficiency.
