Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of engineers focused on developing and supporting electronic warfare systems for the U.S.

Navy, including guiding technical strategies, evaluating systems for fleet use, and collaborating on improvements to ensure naval readiness.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer or scientist with a background in defense technology who enjoys managing projects and providing expert advice on complex systems.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to ND-04 (GS-12/13) in federal or equivalent service, involving technical leadership in system engineering for mission-critical capabilities
  • Professional engineering or scientific background (e.g., in series 0801, 1301, 1501, 1515, or 1550)
  • Ability to manage and supervise an engineering branch focused on electronic warfare systems
  • Experience providing technical guidance, developing requirements, and analyzing test/evaluation events for maritime systems
  • Leadership in working groups, such as Fleet Issues Working Group, for system fielding and sustainment
  • Skills in engineering investigations, feedback, and resolution for system improvements
  • Knowledge of naval modernization, product support, fleet readiness, and program office collaboration

Full Job Description

You will serve as a MANAGER in the Electromagnetic Spectrum Warfare Department (WX), Maritime Electromagnetic Warfare Systems Division (WXM), Electronic Support Systems Engineering Branch (WXMS) or Electronic Attack Systems Engineering (WXMQ) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions.

This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-14 Step 10 (currently $163,514).

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist, providing technical guidance and leadership on the execution of technical strategies involving the implementation of system engineering processes for the design, development, and implementation of mission-critical capabilities for an organization.

  • You will Manage and Supervise the Electronic Support Systems Engineering Branch and be responsible for evaluating technical, operational, and tactical Electronic Warfare systems support for the Fleet Program Office and to field activities.
  • You will provide guidance, develop requirements, and analyze in-service test and evaluation events for Maritime Electronic Warfare Systems under the cognizance of the Program Executive Officer.
  • You will be responsible for leading the Fleet Issues Working Group, providing technical support for planning the fielding and sustainment of systems.
  • You will provide technical assistance and collaboration for Naval Modernization, Product Support, Fleet Readiness, and Program Office.
  • You will provide Engineering Investigation, feedback, and resolution for engineering and technical support for Maritime Electronic Warfare System improvements.
