Full Job Description

You will serve as a MANAGER in the USW Combat Systems Department, Code 25B, of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-05 (GS-13/14 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: managing or overseeing business and financial operations for a naval undersea warfare program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Deputy Department Head responsible for assisting the Platforms and Payload Integration Department Head with the management, oversight, and direction of all business/administrative operations.
  • You will be responsible for executing the department's business enterprise including but not limited to financial management, personnel administration, contracting, property management, information technology, security, safety, and business planning.
  • You will as the Deputy Department Head represent the department on all matters related to business operations, contracts, financial health, work year estimates, business metrics and administrative matters.
  • You will be required to coordinate and supervise administrative, financial, contractual, and facilities planning, implementation, and operations.
  • You will work closely with other supervisors and managers outside the unit to further activity and agency programs.
  • You will manage and lead a diverse team, fostering teamwork within and outside the division, which includes the ability to manage people and conflicts and administer NUWC, NAVSEA, and Navy policies.
  • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining professional relationships, creating opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and effectively negotiating at senior levels.
  • You will require knowledge of business and management processes and principals involved with strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and workforce shaping.
  • You will be required to be knowledgeable and skilled in the following areas: critical thinking, complex problem solving, and judgment and decision-making skills.
