Job Description

Summary

This job is for a manager in the Naval Sea Systems Command who leads teams developing manufacturing plans and strategies for energetic systems like explosives and related components.

It involves overseeing daily operations, providing expert advice on production technologies, and ensuring resources are used efficiently to meet department goals.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer or scientist with a strong background in manufacturing high-risk materials and leadership in technical projects.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12/13 level or equivalent in federal, private, or public sector
  • Professional engineering or physical science background (OPM series 0800 or 1301)
  • Experience providing technical oversight and direction for developing manufacturing plans or strategies for energetic systems and components
  • Ability to lead divisions, including oversight of policy, development, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations

  • You will provide direction and oversight to select divisions within the Energetics Manufacturing Technology Department.
  • You will be responsible for the oversight, direction, policy, development, and strategic planning, as well as the day-to-day operations of efforts.
  • You will oversee and execute work in support of the overall strategic goals of the Energetics Manufacturing Technology Department.
  • You will serve as the subject matter expert and principal advisor regarding the domains of extruded products, energetic devices, cast products, explosives, production scale-up, and manufacturing technology.
  • You will be responsible for providing input and consultation on strategic plans.
  • You will develop metrics and controls to properly allocate resources to manage and align operations.
  • You will deconflict issues regarding scheduling and utilization of deputy department facilities, material, and resources.
  • You will ensure adherence to technical mission while serving the public interest.
