Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing and improving how the government buys goods and services, focusing on making processes more efficient and ensuring budgets are handled properly.

You'll advise on contracts and help solve problems in acquisition programs for a border security agency.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, located in Washington, DC..

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying complex analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to significant issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of acquisition program operations; Develops, analyzes, and evaluates inputs into the planning, programming, budgeting, and executing (PPBE) process; Providing advice and guidance on acquisition or contract management policies, procedures, directives, and best practices; and Assisting acquisition staff in all matters relating to the application of acquisition planning, execution and oversight, and problem solving.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

To be considered well qualified under CTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. Major Duties:

This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $187093 (GS-14 Step 10).

Typical duties include: - Developing, analyzing, and evaluating policies that support long and short-range lifecycle support plans.

Additionally, the incumbent applies analytical principles and techniques combined with knowledge of their interrelationships with other CBP component programs.

- Utilizing a wide range of innovative analytical and evaluative methods to develop reporting matrixes and ensure complex support strategies identify the best use of resources for the delivery of end-items that are reliable, supportable, and which achieve optimal readiness at best cost.

- Serving as a program consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials for product support.

- Preparing, reviewing, editing, coordinating, and releasing correspondence and documentation that accurately conveys the intent and results of studies and analyses.

- Reviewing, analyzing, and providing governance of comprehensive product support strategy in acquisition and sustainment activities.
