Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and fixing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and kitchen appliances at a U.S.

Army facility in Pennsylvania, including troubleshooting issues, performing routine upkeep, and handling related plumbing and electrical tasks.

It also requires driving vehicles to transport tools and equipment to job sites.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in these areas who can work independently with minimal oversight and doesn't mind physical labor in varied conditions.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision.

I have the ability to perform common duties which include performing preventive maintenance and repairs on heating systems, air compressors, and ventilation systems; servicing and repairing kitchen and domestic appliances, including electrical components, wiring, and controls.

I can perform plumbing tasks associated with HVAC work and kitchen appliances.

I can diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC/R systems, including commercial air conditioning units and refrigeration equipment.

I have some knowledge of safety rules and regulations to ensure proper operation of vehicles when transporting tools, materials, and equipment.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - The maintenance worker duties require walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

The maintenance worker frequently lifts & carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; with coworker assistance or with lifting devices, occasionally handles items weighing up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions - Work is performed indoors & outdoors, and is exposed to dirt, sewage, dust, grease, fumes, and refrigerant gases.

The work is subject to bad weather while working on roof top units, or loading and unloading vehicle; and subject to injury from use of hand and power tools, and to burns, cuts, bruises, and electrical shock.

May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs. Major Duties:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems including commercial A/C and refrigeration units.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heating systems, air compressors, and ventilation equipment.
  • Service and repair kitchen and domestic appliances, including electrical systems, wiring, and controls.
  • Operate trucks and other vehicles to transport heavy equipment and tools to work site(s).
  • Perform plumbing tasks associated with HVAC work and kitchen appliances.
