Full Job Description

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking full-time seasonal Park Maintenance Workers to support the upkeep and preservation of Parker Dam State Park Complex.

In this hands-on role, you will perform a wide range of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades—most notably building, mechanical, and electrical work—to help ensure that park facilities, structures, and grounds remain safe, functional, and welcoming for all visitors.

Your efforts will directly support the park’s mission of protecting natural resources while providing high-quality recreational experiences.

Requirements

In this role, you will perform a wide range of semi-skilled maintenance and construction tasks that support the daily operations of the state park.

Your work helps ensure that park facilities, grounds, and equipment remain safe, functional, and welcoming for visitors.

Whether working independently or assisting skilled trades staff, you’ll play an essential part in preserving the park’s natural beauty and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks, working independently or assisting skilled trades workers in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and general building repair.
  • Operate, clean, and assist in the maintenance of park vehicles and equipment used throughout the park.
  • Build simple cement forms, mix and place concrete, finish surfaces, and assist with stone and block wall construction.
  • Carry out grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, cutting firewood, removing litter, cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging ditches, and maintaining drains and culverts.
  • Prepare sites, seed and establish turf, and plant and maintain trees and shrubs to support healthy landscape growth.
  • Paint or stain park buildings, signs, gates, and other structures as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping by cleaning and restocking restrooms, pit latrines, offices, and other buildings; complete minor repairs such as replacing bulbs or tightening fixtures.
  • Use all equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely and responsibly.
  • Assist park visitors by providing information in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Complete required forms and records, including daily logs, mileage sheets, fuel records, and leave slips.
  • Operate a two-way radio following proper communication procedures.
  • Assist with wastewater treatment plant operations and sampling as needed.
  • Perform other related duties to support park operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.

  • Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch.
    • Work may be scheduled on weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
