Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will perform a variety of carpentry work which involves measuring, cutting, and constructing or repairing wood items.
  • You will fabricate minor bathroom cabinets, erect frameworks for small temporary or permanent buildings; assemble and repair prefabricated structures.
  • You will prepare surfaces by methods such as sanding and wire brushing.
  • You will work with a variety of surfaces that include the interior and exterior of buildings such as buildings, curbs on roadways, parking lot spaces and doors.
  • You will make repairs to existing plumbing systems by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective utility parts.
  • You will perform roofing work in removing, repairing, maintaining, installing and weatherproofing various types of asphalt.
  • You will perform simple and routine duties of the trade such as replace blown fuses, light bulbs, electrical outlets, and electrical light switches.
