Full Job Description

Operates the tandem dump truck, skid steer and large roller. Loads and hauls material to and from jobsite. Assists in the operation of the backhoe, motor grader, slope mower, boom mower and excavator. Operates hand and power tools to perform duties using manual labor for maintenance activities. Flags traffic and helps set up work zones during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Conducts and documents pre-trip vehicle/equipment inspections. Reports vehicle and equipment deficiencies and damage to shop. Works during inclement weather, operating truck mounted plows and sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary. Performs job duties including working after hours during emergencies and inclement weather. Assist on call foreman. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
