The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, Loysville Youth Development Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated Maintenance Repairman to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your wide-ranging maintenance expertise to maintain our facilities and grounds, ensuring they are free from hazards, visually appealing, and well-maintained. Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for performing both semi-skilled and skilled tasks across a variety of trades, including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Your duties will span both indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring the safety and upkeep of the buildings and grounds for residents and staff.

You will also serve as a lead worker, overseeing semi-skilled workers as assigned.

Additionally, you will assess the necessary supplies and equipment for each task while determining the appropriate safety and security measures required.

Your work will be vital in maintaining the integrity, safety, and functionality of our facilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events.
  • Overtime may be required as needed, either voluntary or potentially mandatory.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.


Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
