The Department of Transportation is seeking to fill a Maintenance Repairman 2 position in Dauphin County. In this role, you will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks involving the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, bridges, and equipment in support of PennDOT’s District 8-0 Engineering Office. Requirements

In this role, you will perform a wide range of skilled maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades.

Responsibilities include repairing doors, frames, furniture, and constructing temporary partitions and forms, as well as operating and maintaining carpentry tools and equipment.

You will paint and decorate building interiors and complete masonry work on structures such as buildings, bridges, foundations, walkways, and walls.

Plumbing duties involve installing and maintaining fixtures, servicing steam lines and heating equipment, repairing sterilizers, and measuring, cutting, threading, and installing pipe for steam and water systems.

You will also install electrical circuits, outlets, and lighting fixtures, and repair or recondition fans.Additional tasks include making repairs and adjustments to machinery, scheduling routine lubrication of equipment, and performing lead work by guiding helpers on basic assignments.

You will repair roofs, install flashing and spouting, weld and braze metals using arc and acetylene welders, and erect steel for construction projects.

Bridge repair work may involve building forms, finishing concrete, welding steel components, and operating construction equipment.

Seasonal and grounds-related duties include cutting grass with lawn care equipment and removing snow from sidewalks and parking areas using basic snow-removal tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
