The Berks County Maintenance Organization within the Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 to enhance our team! This role involves performing a range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep of bridges, machinery, buildings, HVAC systems, and other equipment. Requirements
In this position, you will utilize your hands-on skills and expertise to ensure the safety of the public by performing repairs and maintenance on various facilities, including buildings, grounds, structures, bridges, and machinery. Your tasks may include installing light fixtures and electrical outlets, as well as fixing or replacing plumbing fixtures like faucets, drains, and toilets. Additionally, you might collaborate with a bridge crew to maintain and repair essential structures, which involves tasks such as building forms, pouring and finishing concrete, and painting surfaces to prolong their lifespan.
To effectively carry out these responsibilities, it is crucial to prioritize the safe use of equipment like forklifts. You will also engage in manual labor with hand tools such as shovels and hammers, while operating motorized equipment like power saws and jackhammers to complete your tasks efficiently.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Two years of experience in cost estimation to include billing of materials and supplies.
- Two years of experience in general carpentry, such as door repair, installation, drywall, shelving, and/ or office partitions.
- Two years of experience in plumbing trades as it relates to general building maintenance (drain, clog, toilet, retaining wall repair or replacement).
- Two years of experience in electrical trades as it relates to general building maintenance (light fixtures, switches, dimmers, HVAC programming).
- Two years or experience in roofing trades as it relates to general building maintenance.
