Full Job Description

The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Mail Clerk.

The incumbent performs mail handling, processing/sorting, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages from United States Postal Service, and other small parcel carriers such as UPS and FEDEX within and outside the organization to both domestic and international destinations.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/20/2026.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: General Experience: You must have one year of general experience with progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Evidence of general experience must be supported on the resume by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.

OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.

To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 2 years of education above the high school level.

OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of general experience and education beyond the high school level.

Major Duties:

Major duties include but not limited to: Evaluate incoming mail correspondence against the corresponding routing symbol associated with the name and service location of the addressee.

Prepare outgoing mail i.e.

domestic and/or international destinations, ensuring adherence to processing requirements as set forth by the United States Postal Service and other small parcel carriers as established in Federal, State and/or Local Codes.

Receive all facility mail from external sources i.e. USPS, UPS and FedEx as required. Provide customer service throughout the facility to both internal and external customers.

Maintain up-to-date directory by name, room, telephone number, organization, and forwarding address for use in work assignment.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30am-3:00pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
