Summary

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Resource Management, Honolulu Hawaii.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties such as preparing forms and reports, applying proper guidelines to route mail, and tracking incoming and outgoing mail.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Major Duties:

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing official mail, as well as incoming personal mail to mailboxes.
  • Read and reroute mail that is incorrectly addressed.
  • Inspect outgoing mail for completeness and compliance with instructions, U.S. Postal Service regulations, and Defense Health Agency (DHA) requirements.
  • Use office automation software to perform mail and distribution clerk duties.
  • Verify accountable mail numbers against tracking labels and resolve any discrepancies.
