Full Job Description

This position is located at the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System.

The incumbent works in the Mail Center section within Supply Chain Management Service, which is the central point for receiving, controlling, distributing and dispatching classified and unclassified mail originated by the Department of Veterans Affairs and other Federal Government Agencies.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/24/2026.

Driver's License: Must possess a valid, state driver's license or commercial driver's license (CDL).

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-04 General Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Handles and ensures "Confidential" and "Sensitive" documents (Legal/Congressional) mail is properly opened, logged, read, date stamped, sorted and delivered immediately to the right "Department Administrative Officer".

Pick-up and delivery of mail to several off-site locations and a daily delivery to the US Post Office.

Conducts quality control procedures by ensuring that all outgoing mail (letters and packages) are metered with proper date, postage, complete address, proper labeling, and packaging.

Safeguards and protects all mail and computer data containing (HIPAA/PHI/PHI) information.

Receives, pick-up, process, sort, distribute, and research "critical", "time sensitive", incoming and outgoing "official/inter-office/Accountable" HIPAA related mail.

OR, GS-04 Education (Transcripts Required): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.

To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

OR, GS-04 Combination (Transcripts Required): Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.

You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school education.

(i.e. 6 months of general experience and 1 year of education above the high school level).

Major Duties:

Duties Include (but not limited to): Ensures adherence to all applicable US Postal Service Laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines relating to the duties assigned are followed.

Serves as a storekeeper for the mail-room/reproduction storage supply; responsible for filling customer requests for stocked postal and reproduction supplies. Processes mail.

Operates a computer for daily operations in the record search (directory mail) process.

Gathers and records data for monthly and yearly reports used to formulate fiscal year budget requests as well as cost reimbursements. Replenishes meter mail equipment as required.

Generates mail workload reports from the automated mail processing equipment and /or manually as required. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
