This job involves supporting the librarian at a mental health hospital by handling library materials, checking out books and media to staff and patients, managing interlibrary loans, and providing basic research help.

The library houses current books, journals, and media, provides reference services, document delivery, and interlibrary loan services, manages the electronic databases and library catalogs, provides library instruction, and cooperates with local and federal library consortia.
Library staff also work with the Patient Library, which provides current materials for recreational and educational reading for all clients through the collection housed in the Resource Center and through the weekly book cart service to the treatment teams.THE CAMPUS OF THE COLORADO MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTE AT FORT LOGAN IS TOBACCO FREE.
Requirements Purpose of this position:The position exists to provide support to the librarian by preparing materials for both library collections, responding to requests for information from staff and patients, lending and borrowing of materials through interlibrary loan, shelving materials in both libraries, keeping track of usage statistics, and providing technical support with computers, printers, audio books, etc.Job Duties:Checks in and verifies the receipt of new materials, catalogs materials and enters bibliographic data in the automated computer system, prepares materials for check-out, inventory of collections, and repair of materials.
Checks out materials to patrons, keeps accurate statistics, and complies with library policies.Responds to requests from staff, students, and patients for articles, books, audiobooks, and media.
Provides materials for staff and students from the print and/or online collections in a timely manner.Performs research to locate library materials requested, uses the appropriate method to borrow materials, and returns materials to lending institutions.Receives requests from other medical libraries and responds within the appropriate time frame.Answers basic reference inquiries and conducts reference searches for staff and students in a timely manner, using the library’s online databases, reference and print collections, and Internet resources.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:Experience:(3) Three years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.Substitutions:Associate's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-yearbasis.Preferred Qualifications:Conditions of Employment:Must be able to pass a Full Background-Name check, TRAILS, Fingerprinting, CAPSMust be at least 21 years of age.Pre-employment PhysicalFormer State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position.
Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
