Serving as the civic center of the community, LCPL provides free and equal access to a full variety of library resources and innovative technologies to enhance the quality of life and meet the informational, educational, and cultural interests of the entire community.
Requirements
Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill a full-time Children’s Services Library Assistant position at Ashburn Library. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and a collaborative life-long learner who embraces the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the community. As members of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers of all ages in the use of library resources and technologies. Children's Services Library Assistants plan and lead programs and storytimes for children of all ages and conduct outreach to create partnerships with schools and other community organizations.
The successful candidate will be a passionate, creative team player with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and two (2) years prior experience providing direct customer service to the public.
Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred. Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test.
Additional Information
- Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing 200 pounds.
- Constant bending, stooping, reaching, walking and standing required.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds required.
- Notary Public License and/or Passport Acceptance Agent certification may be required within one (1) year of hire date.
