This role involves designing, managing, and teaching educational programs for the Air Force's professional military training, serving over 32,000 students worldwide through online and higher-education methods.
It also includes researching teaching techniques, developing faculty skills, and improving online learning systems.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide development, management, and instruction for the Air Force Global College's (AFGC) seven PME programs (officer and enlisted) to more than 32,000 active, guard, reserve, sister service, and civilian students worldwide.
This position may require curriculum development, management, and teaching across disciplines.
Faculty members are also expected to pursue active research, publication, and service to the AFGC, as directed by the dean of AFGC.
Extensive knowledge and practical application in taking instructional and curriculum design from concept through implementation to evaluation within a higher-education and online learning context.
Skilled at working in a cross-functional environment with a diverse group of individuals, to include excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to convey ideas, concepts, recommendations, and feedback to a range of professionals to developers.
Broad knowledge and skills in adult, student-centered distance learning strategies in higher education.
Broad knowledge and skill performing project management over large and small teams and tasks supporting instructional design for higher educational programs.
Specialized skills conducting design and development within a learning management system (LMS) (e.g., Canvas or equivalent), to include integrating educational technologies.
Broad knowledge employing the foundational theories, concepts, and strategies of distance education.
Broad knowledge of program level instructional design; able to develop program-level outcomes; can conduct curriculum mapping which scaffolds learning from introduction to assessment.
Specialized skills with conducting research within the scholarship of teaching and learning with subjects, related but not limited to, adult education, distance education, learning sciences, data analytics, or the psychology of learning.
Broad knowledge and skill in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating faculty development programs.
Abilities to analyze a wide range of facts and/or conditions and make assessments and improvements to program effectiveness as well as the improvement of complex management processes and systems in distance learning environments.
Major Duties:
Educates and develops Global College of PME (GCPME) faculty and staff on instructional design, curriculum development, and course implementation of baseline educational programs.
Provides expertise regarding online education, learning design, educational technology integration, and learning assessment supporting a full spectrum of officer and enlisted professional military education (PME) programs.
Engages in cross-functional instructional design model with curriculum subject matter experts for program or course-level design and development.
Ensures proper development of course objectives, content, learning strategies, and learning assessment in line with curriculum mapping to outcomes.
Incorporates knowledge of instructional systems design processes, current evidence-based practices, educational technologies, and learning methodologies for online education.
Provides evaluation of educational efficacy and for all active courses. Offers recommendations for improving the quality and instructional strategies.
Evolves instructional design processes to ensure high-quality course design remains adaptable to contemporary needs and requirements.
Assists in the piloting, testing, and evaluating of innovative strategies or technological integrations to increase student learning experiences.
Establishes and maintains professional relationships with academic and professional colleagues within the Global College as well as in other DoD schools and organizations, civilian institutions, and business and industrial concerns related to the area(s) of expertise.
Manages assigned secondary instructional design and project management-related function or special project. Oversees the management, tracking, and status of project or program tasks.
Acts as primary liaison with relevant GCPME stakeholders to address equities requiring or impacting by instructional design.
Ensures instructional design practices are consistent with GCPME principles, standards, and timelines for implementation.
Assists in strategic planning efforts including the development and refinement of project procedures, processes, or business rules.
Research requirements and advocates for support required to accomplish responsibilities.
Advises Commandant, Dean, Directors, and other key staff on faculty development needs necessary to meet functional needs.
Maintains an active engagement in relevant scholarship to enhance, advance, or innovate PME programs and curriculum within the Global College of PME.
Monitors and/or contributes to the scholarship in the form of instructional design integration, internal professional development, and/or through peer-reviewed publications, professional journals, conferences/symposia, or other professional community engagements.
Demonstrates strong curiosity to exploring contemporary and emerging online educational instructional design, learning strategies, methodologies, methods, and educational technologies required to promote meaningful educational experience.
Organizes and conducts faculty development activities related to research activities, curriculum development initiatives, new techniques, and technology application in the curriculum.
Performs service activities related to Global College of PME and Air University operations; for example, Commander Mission and Review program analysis, special projects, internal or external committees, providing advice and counsel as appropriate.
Maintains academic currency by participating in appropriate professional association. Performs other professional duties that may be required or assigned by the Commandant, Dean, or Director.
