This position, located at the OKC VA Health Care System, serves as a Lead Transportation Assistant and is responsible for general program support such as travel eligibility, collection, compilation, research and tracking of financial and demographic information to support VTS and beneficiary travel programs.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to...knowledge with matters pertaining to eligibility for beneficiary travel, and the process for collecting and disbursing funds; ability to assess and redistribute staff workload; knowledgeable of VA operations, including in and outpatient activities, hospitalization of eligible beneficiaries in non-VA hospitals, and other state, and federal hospitals, to include community nursing homes; ability to communicate frequently with volunteers, public transit systems, DAV, and other service organizations to arrange transportation for Veterans not eligible for transport reimbursement; knowledge of applicable public laws, VA Policies, regulations, facility directives and legal decisions pertaining to Beneficiary Travel and Veterans Transportation Service; ability to establish and maintain fund control accounts; knowledgeable of the facets of demographics, threshold criteria and income assessment requirements necessary to provide accurate information to management, employees and patients regarding Veteran's beneficiary travel benefits; knowledge of effective communication techniques, both oral and written; ability to adapt to situations quickly and cope with problems as they arise, resolving them quickly and decisively; able to determine the appropriate mode of travel and determining alternate sources of travel and/or securing information on current common carrier fares, schedules, and programs available to Veterans, and possess the knowledge and ability to initiate and complete travel vouchers at Government expense You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service Problem Solving Quality Management Work Practices Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
