Full Job Description

This position is for the Lead Supply Technician, responsible for overseeing the efficient distribution of supplies and materials, including but not limited to sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment, to all areas served by Logistics.

The role is based within the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) unit of the Logistics Service at the San Juan VA Medical Center and supported catchment area To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/26/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Driver's License Requirement: You must posses a current state issued Drivers License, (Please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package.

Language : Proficient in English and Spanish You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of Specialized Experience would typically include but are not limited to: Distributing supplies and materials, including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies instrument sets, and equipment to all areas of the facility; lead three or more employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinic operating rooms, and other hospital facilities with supplies; must have knowledge of applicable policies and procedures, as well as inventory systems, such as the generic inventory package (GIP), bar coding, aseptic procedures and Logistics processes, including scanning, receiving, storing and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies and materials; maintains stock by pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels.

You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Leadership Reasoning Technical Competence Technology Application Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequently reaching, bending and lifting supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds).

Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies weighing more than 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, lift or move heavier items weighing over 40 pounds.

Major Duties:

Include but not limited to: Leads three or more employees and effectively distributes and balances the workload in accordance with established workflows and job responsibilities.

Ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and provide estimates and updates on the expected time of work completion.

Monitor the status and progress of ongoing work, making daily adjustments as needed to align with established priorities.

Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administration services Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock to limit outdates and remove items from use as required by outdates.

Perform daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points. Assist managers in verifying inventory for items designated for recall or hazard alerts, and support wall to wall inventories.

Receives supplies and material, unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons Properly store items in accordance with established guidelines.

Work Schedule: 7:30am to 4:00pm 3:30pm to 12:00am, 12:00am to 8:00am, including Rotating Shifts, weekends and holidays Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
