Selective Factor - Physical Requirements: This position requires some walking, stooping, bending and lifting of items not to exceed 50 pounds.
Specialized Experience: You qualify at the grade 5 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties.
This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 4 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is defined as sorting mail; recording and controlling outgoing mail; using established United States Postal Service (USPS) requirements and other clerical related duties, such as counting mail, screening priority items, and preparing routing and control forms.
OR Education Substitution: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college, university or business, secretarial, or technical school may be substituted for the required experience.
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet qualifications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

The individual selected for this position will: Distribute and balance the workload among employees, maintain operations of the unit; and operate automated mailing equipment.
Instruct employees in proper procedures, work methods, making available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Monitor work to ensure quality scheduled completion, informing supervisor of problems that may arise.
Contact sponsoring divisions or scheduling personnel to resolve problems with materials, counts or other mail processing issues.
Coordinate unit activities closely with unit supervisor regarding mail outs, shipments, procedural matters, and schedules.
