Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as Leading Cybersecurity Assessment team and associated activities.

Providing expert level experience in support of all cybersecurity assessment activities to include: comprehensive understanding of the assessment and authorization process and the ability to independently assess and validate the security of information systems.

Expert knowledge of one or more industry cybersecurity frameworks (i.e. RMF, CSF, ISO 27001), risk analysis, IT technical expertise, and leadership and communication.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

  • Provides authoritative evidence, advice, and guidance pertinent to IA program policies, guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) during all stages of the automation process.
  • Provides assistance and guidance on matters pertaining to the Risk Management Framework.
  • Prepares certification and accreditation package via the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Articulates and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
  • Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
