Job Description

Summary

This role involves managing and securing network systems and information technology infrastructure for a defense finance agency, including installing hardware and software, monitoring performance, and fixing issues to keep everything running smoothly.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, acquisition, installation, and modification of network hardware and software.

Analyzing system performance data to identify trends, plan for increased capacity, and coordinate IT projects related to network operations.

Monitoring a complex network environment to ensure peak performance, providing technical guidance, and resolving end-user and system-level problems.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

To be considered for the GS-12, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in the Federal service ** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

Major Duties:

  • Implements policies and procedure regarding IT planning, acquisition, installation, operation, and modification of cloud and local infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Resolves system or end-user problems and makes necessary modifications to Windows operating system.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and fine-tunes components to achieve peak efficiency within the overall cloud and local infrastructure connectivity.
  • Performs staff assignments related to project planning, monitoring, and/or coordinating IT systems analysis and programming functions related to platform infrastructure operations.
  • Analyzes hardware and software reliability and utilization reports for large, complex hardware and software systems to identify and correct problem areas.
