Full Job Description

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Lead Human Resources Technician (OA) responsible for directing and guiding 3-5 Human Resources Technicians in GS-203-05 or military equivalent.

Incumbent of this position provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Processing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Providing administrative support to a Reception-Administration Control Desk; Questioning applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms records for entry into the organization; Performing records management of electronic and paper applicant records; Entering data in automated system(s) to record applicant processing information.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

  • Coach, facilitate, resolve work problems and participate in the work of the MEPS Processing Element.
  • Provide input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems.
  • Perform Human Resources Assistant duties identical to those led.
  • Certifies that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system displayed contract is complete and all additional disclosed information has been supplied to the service representative.
  • Provide routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems.
