About the Position: This position is located in Emergency Medicine, Directorate of medical Services at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.

The incumbent serves as the administrative assistant to the Emergency Medicine Department, and in a work Center Leader capacity performing a variety of tasks in support of the administrative functions of the entire department.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Plan, distribute and balance workload among employees.
  • Set priorities for completion of work as directed by the Assistant Department Head.
  • Manage the department's travel program through the Defense Travel System.
  • Maintain credentialing and training files for all medical providers.
  • Provide direct support to the Department Head and professional staff.
