This job involves maintaining, cleaning, repairing, and distributing used furniture and equipment in a VA hospital, along with setting up for events and handling basic facility tasks.

This position is in the Housekeeping Section of the Environmental Management Service at the St Cloud VA Health Care System.
The position is responsible for handling, cleaning, storing, assembling, maintaining, and distributing facility used furniture and equipment; and producing basic facility signage.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.

Major Duties:
Major Duties Furniture & Equipment Primarily responsible for maintaining, storing, handling, and distributing used facility furniture, including desks, chairs, cabinets, and file cabinets.
Maintains and cleans used furniture for reissue. Assembles items such as cabinets and performs maintenance and minor repairs on furniture including Sit to Stand desks.
Disassembles, repairs, cleans, reassembles, installs, and reinstalls locks on file cabinets, desks, office desks and lateral file cabinets. Incumbent is equipped with Master Keys for such locks.
Transports, stores, assembles, and distributes furniture, equipment, and commodities using carts, dollies, and pallet jacks to move and position/place furniture and equipment.
Verifies quantity, condition of furniture and packaging of items. Reports obvious overages, shortages, or damaged items.
Stores items in established locations, evaluates storage space, establishes item location, and determines organization and arrangement of furniture stock.
Ensures stock is properly stored in compliance with OSHA, JCHAO, and safety standards.
Delivers and picks up furniture, trash cans, sharps containers, and event equipment to and from various locations in and outside the facility and affiliated CBOCs.
Sets up and removes tables, chairs, tents, heaters, supply propane tanks, gas generators, ropes, cones, and equipment and supplies for indoor and outdoor events.
Collects, delivers, and transports light bulbs and batteries to and from various locations inside and outside the medical center. Collects and processes bad batteries and bad light bulbs for disposal.
Deliver and collect furniture/equipment from CBOCs outside the Medical Center campus.
Sign-Making The incumbent produces signs for the facility interior signage program using a non-networked CPU with pre-loaded templates on Corel DRAW Graphics Suite 2021 or similar software.
Applies double-sided tape to plastic VA-approved brown signs with white lettering.
Operates and maintains a laser engraver, vinyl cutter, and router to create and cut all interior signs for the facility on Acrylic or other VA approved materials.
Performs operator maintenance of all sign production equipment. Requests, receives, and stores signage stock and finished components. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday- Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM (Overtime when scheduled) Position Description Title/PD#: Laborer (MVO)/PD90376A Physical Requirements: Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls of motors vehicles, moving equipment and housekeeping equipment.
May lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others.
Moderate physical effort is exerted in operating, turning, backing and controlling heavier, longer, or wider loads on flat beds and moving equipment.
Work Conditions: Most work is performed in a warehouse space but may also be performed in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted.
Regularly exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents as well as high noise levels.
May be exposed to skin irritations from cleaning solutions in concentrated form used in the housekeeping activity. Exposed to vibrations and noise from equipment used.
Jackets, gloves, and other protective clothing and devices are available and must be used when required.
